A Sunday blaze in a nine story building in Honcguron Michigan killed eleven people including ten from one family and a visiting girl Lena Erb. Theodore Gross and family narrowly escaped as flames trapped occupants and a blizzard raged. eleven bodies were found burned beyond recognition and two brothers survived. The lamp explosion theory is the only plausible cause offered. the children were born in the house where they died.

A Tahlequah dispatch reports the Cherokee Nation’s council adjourned sine die as commissioners read a letter withdrawing a July 31 1889 offer of 125 per acre for lands west of the Arkansas River known as the Cherokee outlet. The commissioners stated they will report to Washington on Congress’s return.
In a Clyde fog the steamers Ovington and Queen Victoria collided and sank. Five persons drowned. The incident occurred on the River Clyde near London on December 29.
Yazoo City Mississippi reported a large blaze destroying Citizens' warehouse with 6000 bales of cotton and seven freight cars.
