Crowded train at Milk Street Station in the Washington street tunnel experienced a blaze and smoke after two flashes lit the cars and shorted the third rail control shoe. Passengers smashed windows and pried doors as lights failed and the emergency cleared.
Mr and Mrs Guy W Lawrence of Gardiner Maine testified in Pelletier hearing as Attorney General Allen presented evidence that Suffolk County district attorney Pelletier and Coakley threatened to indict a woman as lewd if she pursued a recovery suit over an automobile gift. The threats were alleged to occur in March 1918 before the Lawrences marriage.

Patrolman Harry A. Brown, limping from an ankle injury, again stopped a runaway milk team on Washington street Jamaica Plain near Green street. He leaped for the head and halted the frightened horse after being dragged, injuring his hand and arm. Earlier Brown halted a Federal street runaway while at City Hall station.
A fire of undetermined origin swept the front of the second floor at 332 Washington Street early this morning causing about 5000 in damage. Much of the loss fell on the clothing stock of F L Dunne & Company importers and clothiers whose workshop was the blaze source. Flames issued from the front as firemen arrived and a downtown conflagration was briefly feared. Finished and unfinished garments in the Dunne shop were destroyed and smoke filled the Dunne and Transcript buildings.
