The Post reports a plan to delay street sweeping until after theatre crowds depart to reduce dust blowing into faces on Boylston Tremont and other streets. Superintendent Carter says sweepers will start after supper, around Atlantic venue, avoiding early hours and windy dust.
A Malden man Frank L Edwards disappeared after a Saturday train stop near Somerville. Police traced him from the Saugus branch to Malden, noting drunkenness and a late ticket, but investigators found no trace beyond footprints to a pond and suspect he wandered away after being placed in the waiting room.
A woman identified as Mrs Mattie Jefferson leapt from a second story window at the Atlantic Hotel in Curiaco after discovering she had married Winfield Jefferson, a Oregon rancher. Police pursue the hotel night clerk who aided her escape. The wife, about 32, is found with 500 in cash and 9700 in certified checks, claiming deceit over marriage and money.
In District Court James O Laughlin of Stoneham was fined 25 plus costs for disturbing the peace and another 25 plus costs for assaulting Conductor Warren Keay of the Boston and Maine on the last train from heading for Boston. He, intoxicated, threatened to clear the car and drove his arm through a window, injuring his own arm as the train waited thirty minutes for a doctor.
A New York paper hints that Count Peter Romanoff may be the traveling incognito of Grand Duke Peter Nicolaievitch, uncle to the Czar. Born 1864 in St. Petersburg, he is aide de camp to the Emperor and captain of the Imperial Guard Lancers, married in 1889 to Princess Militza of Montenegro.

James Dunlap will be released today at 10 as Gov Russell signed an unconditional pardon yesterday afternoon. Convicted for Northampton bank robbery in 1877 he served through December 1893 with good behavior credits cutting his term. Restitution of $1.6 million influenced the pardon after years of appeals by bank officials jurors and citizens.
