Egypt Exploration Fund Sees Strong Year at London Meeting

Duluth South Shore and Atlantic Aims for 1887 Opener

The Duluth South Shore and Atlantic plans to have its line running by November 1 1887. It will connect directly with Cincinnati via the Grand Rapids Indiana and Pittsburg Fort Wayne and Chicago routes. Eastern links are unresolved. The project intends to engage heavily in upper peninsula commerce and gain a share of Gogebic range trade. Most of the right of way is secured. Possession is not yet taken of Marquette Houghton Ontonagon and Marquette Mackinack and Marquette. A southern Duluth connection may appear about twelve miles south of Ashland.

Latimer Couple in Fitchburg Rail Crash Severe

The Latimers in a Somerville Fitchburg railroad crash Sunday afternoon remain in precarious condition. Mrs Latimer lies in a stupor at home with ear bleeding suggesting a skull fracture and slim odds of recovery. Dr Latimer’s injuries, while painful, are not dangerous. Nearby, sympathy runs high for Elmer Stinehart, blamed in the accident.
