Roland C. Nickerson, a Boston millionaire, fell ill with acute appendicitis on a train in Chicago while en route to visit his fiancee Miss Henrietta Jordan in Minneapolis. He was rushed to a hospital for treatment and was to make final marriage arrangements in February staying a month at his fiancee’s home.
Mickerson a 22 year old Boston native left for Minneapolis to wed Miss Jordan the daughter of a Minneapolis dry goods merchant They met in Rome and planned a February wedding in Minneapolis If he recovers he will marry at Miss Jordans home in Minneapolis The couple had connections to Chicago and Italy with Fieldstone Hall in West Brewster as a rumored family home address and wealth linked to New York and Boston banking families
London reports Harry Lauder narrowly escaped drowning while crossing from Gourock to Lauderdale House in Dunoon. He hired a rowboat as no steamship ran due to rough weather. after three hours of buffeting, he and the boatman reached shore amid cheering onlookers. His son’s safety prompted the risk, and Mrs Lauder watched from home as his condition improved.
