Trains Crash At Trestle Leaves Dozens Dead Or Injured
A collision at a trestle caused passenger and baggage cars and a tender to fall twenty six feet while the locomotive escaped unharmed. Nineteen bodies have been recovered with many bruised and unrecognizable due to fire. Thirty five people are known to be wounded, including Fay Flanders conductor and W H H Ticknor seriously. Barnum's Museum Destruction After Fire in New York
The Barnum's Museum blaze at 3:30 am gutted the four story building on East Fourteenth Street. Animals perished, including giraffes and a large elephant, while two Abyssinian lions and two Bengal tigers died in the flames.
