Potter Gets a Year for Manslaughter in Local Court
Warren Potter, a colored bootblack, was convicted of manslaughter by a Superior Criminal Court jury and sentenced by Judge Hardy to one year in the House of Correction. The victim, Louis Silverstein, a frail 16 year old Hebrew boy, died after Potter struck him three blows during a quarrel over a 10 cent piece at L. Goodman’s bootshop in 3 Spring Lane.
