Every purchase of one pound of Empress Tea priced at 50, 60, or 70 cents earns a free one pound of Empress Mocha and Java Coffee 35 cent quality. The announcement asserts the gift will convert buyers into regular weekly customers due to the coffee’s quality.
Extension of French jurisdiction at Shanghai coupled with a strong British protest threatens to stiffen Chinese resistance to the French demand. Journal notes that without sustained Chinese backing they may be compelled to yield.
Mr and Mrs Kelley were captured at Kelleys mother’s Brookline home after being accused of stealing 2300 from Francis McCarthy of Brighton. They deny leaving the state or taking money, claim they are married, and were booked at Brookline police before transfer to Boston police headquarters.
Neighbors heard a gunshot as two men burgled the Shaw mansion on Washington and Kim streets in Quincy.
