About six p.m. yesterday on the British steamer Turret Crown Captain Jayton en route from Boston to Sydney an altercation left cook John Cassidy 42 striking deckhand John Strok mann 30 over the left eye with a cleaver causing a severe injury. The ship returned to Boston where harbor police detained Cassidy and Strok mann was sent to City Hospital by ambulance. Dr Dunn treated him.

Murder in Hubbardston Claims Asa Bennett in Robbery
In Hubbardston on December 21 Asa Bennett was found murdered in his kitchen. A heavy iron bolt lay nearby and only 25 cents was in his pocket. His wife Mrs. Bennett, returning from prayer at the Congregational Church, reported the body and there is no clue to the killer. Bennett had planned to deposit money from a sold wood lot in Gardner Bank tomorrow. He once traded on the Mississippi River and left behind a modest estate.

Nellie Jordoff a seven year old girl was taken from Tenney street Arlington district at 4 pm by her mother Mrs Lambert who had left the child six years ago. Police traced the case to Pawtucket where the mother seized the girl from her grandmother Mrs Jordoff who had cared for the child thinking she was legally in charge. The mother and deputy sheriff removed the girl and the grandmother is distressed as authorities say no action can be taken at present.
