Kinston North Carolina December 20 Guilford Soon a colored man was hanged here today for feloniously assaulting Mrs Eliza Jones a widow living in Neck township Lenoir county On May 8 she was alone when Soon claimed to be her son he seized maltreated her and she escaped to a neighbor After being at large a month he was captured amid lynching attempts He was the son of Ben Soon who murdered his master in Pitt county in 1863 and was shot by union soldiers for some of his misdeeds.
