Five days remain for New England donors to fill every bundle and bring Christmas joy. The Post Santa Claus appeal urges adults to contribute before the deadline to ensure all gifts are sent.
Washington December 19 The Armament Conference design approved by President Harding will appear on a new silver dollar minted starting immediately. About 700 000 coins are planned before year end. Designed by Anthony De Francisci the coin features Liberty on the obverse and a eagle on a broken sword with an olive branch and the word Peace on the reverse. Rays of a rising sun background symbolize a new era and the coins carry E Pluribus Unum and In God We Trust. This marks the first new silver dollar design since 1878.
Richard Croker former Tammany leader improved after serious illness at home near Dublin and is believed to be out of danger. He suffered chills but passed the crisis Friday according to his wife.
Recount figures from 68 precincts in the first 12 wards show John R. Murphy netting 72 votes as one quarter of Boston's 274 precincts are tallied. London reports Princess Mary daughter of King George and Queen Mary will wed Viscount Lascelles in Westminster Abbey. The ceremony is expected between February 20 and April 1. Also announced is the betrothal of the Earl of Eltham to Dorothy Hastings. The Earl of Eltham born October 1895 is the Marquis of Cambridge’s eldest son.
Giuseppe Iannacone of 73 Lubee Street Mast Boston collapsed dead at the Hanover Trust Company while clutching his dividend check. Crowds awaiting their own payments rushed to help, but he died on the marble floor after reeling at the cashier window. He was pronounced dead at Haymarket Relief Hospital.
An automobile owned by Attorney Henry JF Hurlburt of Brookline and driven by Robert Wilson smashed into John McClellan of 52 Tilme Street Roxbury as he crossed Beacon and Joy streets. McClellan received treatment at the Relief Station for scalp wounds.
