From Boston to Jeremie Harti the schooner Lamoine was driven ashore on December 8. The three masted 246 ton vessel built in 1870 was not insured and slated for total loss. Crew lashed in rigging for 14 hours endured a fierce gale until rescue by shoremen under the American consul. A Norwegian bark broke free, went ashore and wrecked within four hours. its mate drowned but the rest of its crew were saved. The Lamoine, owned by John Emery & Co and others, had sails partially saved and captains report additional vessels and ships in distress elsewhere on that date.
