Nine teen lives were lost when the American submarine F-1 was rammed and sunk by F-3 in smooth waters off Washington on Monday afternoon. F-3 remained undamaged and rescued five survivors. Secretary Daniels announced the disaster in a brief statement with few details.

Andrew J. Peters won the Boston mayoral race yesterday with 37,924 votes and a 9,074 plurality over Mayor Curley. James A. Gallivan finished third with 19,415 votes while Daniel W. Lane Henry E. Hagan and James T. Moriarty won seats on the City Council. Lane and Hagan were endorsed by the Good Government Association.

Yesterday's returns show Andrew J. Peters leading in Boston with 54 260 for Yes and 30 776 for No while Samuel Rushton tallies appear in Methuen. Whitaker and Beal also post vote counts in Adams and Waltham with figures for Yes and No.
