Stranger posing as ship captain swindles stores in Chelsea

Wednesday a man calling himself captain visited Mr Pickett in Chelsea and asked provisions be sent to a schooner near Charlestown Bridge. He took a basket of samples, followed by the proprietor who suspected a scam. He later left goods at Charlestown, returned Thursday and was arrested, using names Jones Parker Reed and claiming to be master of a vessel from New Bedford.
