Financial Market Movements and Railway Debts Update

The markets show increased activity with strong but concentrated stock dealings. Rail lines Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe rose briefly to 77 before retreating to 76 3/4 while Chicago Burlington and Quincy fell to 117 3/4. A Kansas Pacific debt strategy aims to convert bonds into a land grant sinking fund, reducing funded debt by 1.5 million plus this month’s payments. Dividend figures and nine month results for railway earnings are documented, with total surplus income around 3.95 million and a plan to extinguish bonds via land grant proceeds.
