Receiver Sought for Great White Spirit Company

In Trenton New Jersey on December 14 a motion to appoint a receiver for the Great White Spirit Company was filed by the American Surety Company of New York and Atlas National Bank of Boston. The company is insolvent with liabilities of 974 929 and assets of 306 683. The petition cites rent income of 26 000 from a Boston wharf and alleges director Richard C Sibley and others misused funds. A show cause hearing is set for December 19.

Philippine Development Association of American Volunteers formed

In Manila on December 14 an Astor Battery meeting formed the Philippine Development Association to aid discharged volunteers settle in the islands. The group plans to contact US authorities to obtain discharges for settlers and to gather information on local resources while awaiting departure of the battery.

At 51 Fuller Street Ashmont James O Neil his wife and two daughters Katherine Jennie and Sarah were stricken by carbon monoxide from a poorly ventilated furnace.
