Cambridge Police Changes Proposed by Cambridge Aldermen

The Cambridge Board of Aldermen approved a plan to appoint six lieutenants and nine sergeants, replacing the current six sergeants. Lieutenants would oversee night station charges and six sergeants would focus on street crime patrols. The board also appropriated $30,000 to widen Imont Street.

Lost schooner Sigfrid leaves many grieving families

Schooner Mansur B. Oakes Runs Aground Off Gloucester

Ashore off Gloucester December 13 a lumber laden schooner Mansur B. Oakes from Calais ran aground on the unfinished Dog Bar breakwater while attempting to enter the harbor. She is lying easy and may be freed on the next tide. One crewman aboard reports the captain and others went to the city for assistance.

Dedham Man's Suicide After Boom Crash

Arthur E Bull, 42, Harvard alum and husband of a devoted wife, shot himself after a failed Western boom and fading fortunes. He lived in Dedham with his family, had ties to the Fisher Ames Club and Dedham Golf Club, and had worked in Seattle and Boston before the tragedy. Mrs Bull, prostrate, recounted his rise and crash and noted his amiable domestic life.

By-elections across three Nova Scotia counties filled provincial seats after members resigned to contest Dominion elections.
