Medical Examiner reports cyanide of potassium caused Catherine Cummings's death in Boston. Friends dispute the conclusion and say no motive is apparent. The New Bedford native, 22, worked at Boston Bolt Co and had few close ties. She fell ill with a severe cold before returning to her lodgings where she died.

Medical Examiner Dr Draper reports a likely cyanide poisoning in Katherine Cummings died at South Boston after a personal crisis, with autopsy showing a white granular residue on the lower lip and cherry red blood. Tests for cyanide were negative, leaving a cautious conclusion of death by cyanide of potassium based on anatomical signs.
