N. Haurax Dec. 12. Yesterday two men named Gashford were sent to the poorhouse after sheltering at the police station. He joined the Sixtieth Royal Rifles in 1877 and took part in the Afghanistan campaign and the Cabul to Candahar march under General Roberts. He also served in the 1882 Egyptian campaign and the Khartoum relief. Invalided out a year ago, he bears several service medals and a pension of fifteen cents a day.
A white woman Emily Bram is murdered for her body to be sold for dissection. Perry the janitor and two colored men, John Ross and Albert Hawkins, plotted with the janitor to deliver the body. They confessed, detailing the head crushing and heart stabbing to obtain fifteen dollars in Barrimore.
The Rev. James O'Connor spoke at Masonic Temple Hall on the dispute between Rev. Father Edward McGlynn and Archbishop Corrigan over McGlynn's Henry George advocacy. He argued McGlynn disobeyed church authorities by charitable work outside the church and warned of Rome's potential action.
