Boston Inspector Fired Over Curley Opposition

Henry C. Church, a Charlestown precinct inspector, says he was ordered to resign after opposing the Curley ticket. He alleges Jim Desmond threatened his job and that Election Commissioner Burlen asked for his resignation, which Burlen denies having requested.

Mayor Curley Addresses Church Matter and Election Officer Claim

Last night Mayor Curley issued a statement on the Church issue. He says Election Commissioners Burlen and Seiberlick informed him that the man claimed to be removed as an election officer has not been removed. The board learned the man boasted of being an officer in Charlestown while living in West Roxbury and has not yet been questioned since failing to visit their office. He earns 24 dollars a year and may have been offered that amount to make a false statement. If he declines to serve, his name stands. otherwise removal is not ordered. The Curley note accuses the Storrowites of an ill timed plot and labels the affidavit an hour late fake.
