Sailor Knifed By Assailant in Gloucester Harbor
William Edwards, a coal barge crewman stationed in Gloucester harbor, lies in the local police station with a five inch back wound and a three inch knife wound near the jugular vein. Police search the area after Edwards cried out for help at the foot of Rogers Street. Officer Eason responded and the assailant fled down the street. Edwards is unable to name a suspect.

About 18 000 people joined demonstrations in Calumet and Houghton demanding restoration of order in the copper strike district.
