S P Sharples chemist and state assayer for Massachusetts reports use of the perfected GCERMICIDE in his office for weeks. He states it keeps traps full and its fluid kills all germs, recommending its use.

Snow laden roof of an arch over the Old Colony railroad tunnel behind Metacomet mill in Fall River collapsed just before 2 PM. Trains from Boston and Providence had passed moments earlier. Engine 88 and Engine 15 were near the tunnel. One hour to clear the track, delaying the 3:30 Boston service. The 150 foot brick and iron tunnel was built to shield sparks from the mill. Escape from serious injury was narrow.
A three story Valley Mill building near Brattleboro depot burned with machinery and grain stock. W H Minor of Chicago owned the mill run by Hstey Frost Co. loss about 10000 with 5000 insured on mill and machinery. Fire also hit Avnex printing near the depot causing heavy damage and insurance coverage totalling 2800. A tannery arson attempt on Sawyer street in Protopy was quickly stopped with minor damage.
Beech Creek railroad engine explosion in Jersey Shore, Pa, claims the lives of engineers Phil H Knight and James Wearne and fireman Allen Ramsay and J Field, with machinist J Stapleton seriously injured. Knight and Field bodies severely mutilated, Field thrown 1500 feet.

In Ward 24 last night Samuel J. Capen won the Republican alderman nomination by 14 votes out of 628, 321 for Capen and 307 for John Canness amid a charged scene.
