Mysterious Dock Fire Kills Four at New York Steamship Pier

A blaze at the National steamship line dock in New York at 1 30 pm yesterday is blamed on spontaneous combustion or cotton bale explosion. Seventy five workers were on site. four died James Barry Richard Johnson James Whalen and John Hopson. Several others injured with burns and smoke inhalation. The 600 foot pier, mainly sheet iron, cost 200000 with no damage to nearby ships as they were moved out into the stream.
