Parisian to Make Boston Voyage as Era of Fast Ocean Steamers Dawns

The Parisian, Allan Line, is slated to begin Liverpool to Boston service on Feb 3 1881. She will be the port of Boston’s largest first class steamer, leading a new generation of fast, safe transatlantic vessels including the City of Rome Servia and Alaska. Enhanced safety features such as more watertight compartments and steel hulls mark advances. experts foresee unsinkable potential and shorter, pleasanter crossings. Boston’s maritime status gains pride as direct transatlantic sailings loom, reducing reliance on New York for Europe trips.
