Blaze on Wareham Street Leaves City Block Damaged

A major blaze on Wareham and Plympton streets caused $20,000 in damage to a five story brick building owned by Nathaniel Cummings. Fire spread rapidly through the upper floors. most occupants fled or were unlocated. Fire destroyed stock and tools across workshops on floors two to five, with heavy losses reported for Cummings Kenney & Co., J L Brown, Watson & Bowers, Meschler, Purcell, Sorenton Wood, Norris, Barron, and others. Inquest Opens on Deaths at Adams Coal Shed

The Roxbury municipal court held Friday morning inquest into the deaths of Kendriken and Knox killed last week at Adams’s coal shed. Assistant Inspector Morrison said iron pocket rods were defective and noted he supervised the building’s construction.
