Marquis M Converse, president of the Converse Rubber Shoe Company, declares he is done with Malden. He will not buy, ride, or use any Malden services and would move his factory if possible. He will not bank there and says Malden and he have parted. He accuses the city of failing to do him favors.
The article recalls Mr. Converse as a benefactor to Malden institutions including the hospital library churches and banks. It notes his company payroll about 600000 annually and city taxes of 10000 while a fence project near his factory faces permit denial by street and water commissioners.
