Clarence V. T. Richeson former pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church Cambridge sits on a jail cot as Salvation Army volunteers sing hymns in Charles Street Jail. He faces murder charges and awaits trial while inmates sob and prayers rise in the adjoining guardroom.
Colonel Adam Gifford and the Boston Salvation Army, with staff and band, held a short Sabbath service in the jail guard room. Prisoners, including Richeson in murderers row, listened from cells as hymns and prayers moved many to tears.
In Quincy at 35 Water Street a knife fight left Giuseppi Ruchero dead and Giuseppi's brother Matteo jailed. Spiano Savelio was seriously wounded and his wife described a defense that saved her husband as police investigated the scene and medical examiners ruled the death a murder.
Spiano Savelio and his brother clash with Guiseppi and Matteo Rucero after guests at 3 Lambert street, Cambridge, quarrel over board, with Savelio fatally wounding Guiseppi after a knife attack. Dominic Corsigligo is hospitalized with a severed eye. Michele Salvenini is jailed, and Matteo faces court as a witness. The Rucero brothers had recently arrived from Italy.

Rear Admiral George Francis Faxon Wilde U S N retired died suddenly at his home in North Easton on December 3 at age 66 or 67 after a long fight with heart disease. The 40 year naval career featured notable achievements afloat and ashore and the death came as a shock to his physician and household.
Rear Admiral Wilde, veteran of the Boxer uprising and Spanish American War, led marines in China and commanded ships from Susquehanna to Oregon. He for twenty years rose to flag rank and earned thanks from Spain for rescuing officers and families at Iloilo and Vigan. He retired in 1905 after a storied naval career and leaves a widow Emogene B. Howard with surviving siblings. The funeral is set for Wednesday at 2 PM at his home.
Cardinal O Connell replies to Boston College students and Father Gasson with heartiest thanks for the Cardinal’s Day greetings. The Boston College student body of more than 1000 strong sent cordial greetings to their alumnus Cardinal Groye, signed by Father Thomas I Gasson.
John Sumner aged 50 from East Cambridge Mass died in the cabin of the schooner A. F. Kindberg loading lumber at Ayer's mill South Brewer. Fire trapped him after 3 am as crew members Carl Anderson David Walsh and William Hurley gained access to the deck through a skylight once the companionway stairs proved impassable.
Mate Anderson Walsh and Hurley woke to smoke as a locked cabin door trapped Captain Coburn. They forced free, reentered for Sumner the cook found dead in a kneeling pose. The three men suffered burns. coroner ruled Sumner died of suffocation from an overheated stove blaze.
Voices across the labor movement denounce the McNamaras for their blow to union labor and call for Samuel Gompers to resign if Detective Burns' claim of his knowledge is proven. William H. O'Brien says Gompers cannot be proven guilty, but if evidence supports it, his successor must be chosen immediately.
In Indianapolis Burns says Gompers knew the McNamaras were guilty all along and lied about being surprised. He and union heads discussed raising defense funds. Darrow reportedly doubted the frame up claim. The day’s talks touched on the federal grand jury’s dynamiting probe, set to resume December 4.
Samuel Gompers, president of the American Federation of Labor, says he will issue a formal statement after returning to Washington and only after thoroughly reviewing the McNamara cases. He cites possible return tomorrow but notes many engagements may delay a statement for a week. He declines to discuss clemency and says the court should sentence the self-convicted men.
The Central Labor Union of Brooklyn endorsed turning over 190000 dollars raised by labor unions to the relatives of Los Angeles Times disaster victims. The McNamara brothers were criticized, and Brooklyn unions pledged sympathy and support to Samuel Gompers, head of the AFL.
