A heavy northeast gale off Boon Island damaged ships including the brig William E Lee which found harbor safety after tow. The brig Amita Owen ran aground near Strawberry Hill, lost masts, broke apart. crew saved. An insured 489 ton vessel, Anita Owen, abandoned, valued at 15000 dollars with cargo insured.
