Union Meeting in New Orleans at St Charles Theatre

A large enthusiastic Union meeting was held at the St Charles Theatre in New Orleans on November 27. Many were shut out but formed a street gathering, with Senators Downs of Louisiana and Foote of Mississippi denouncing agitators and any efforts to disrupt the Union. remarks met with loud cheering, the meeting described as the largest ever held in Louisiana.

From Buenos Ayres, Oct 5, the Packet of Sept 14, 21, and 28 arrives via bark Argentine at Salem. A storm between the 14th and 19th caused high tides and harbor vessel damage, though shore buildings fared better than in July. American goods were cheap and produce scarce due to heavy rains.
