King Philip Wreck Off Cape with Crew of Ten Lost

Provincetown reports the schooner King Philip of Fall River wrecked off the Cape. About 45 wreckage pieces have washed ashore. the crew of ten is believed lost. The 1224 ton vessel valued around $10,000 with $4000 insured.

Two-masted schooner ashore near Fort Point

The C. B. Kennard ran aground off Fort Point after anchor chain broke while sailing from Portsmouth New Hampshire with 60 000 brick for Weymouth. Captain John Freeman mate George Brown and two seamen reached shore after difficulty. Crew from Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

Captain Pike presumed dead as wreck bodies identified

Kingston report states J O Hara & Co Boston owners of the Mertis H Perry arrived at Rexham Terrace Marshfield to view the wreck scene. Captain Joshua Pike’s body had not been recovered by 5 20 p m. Two bodies washed ashore William Bignall and George Bagnall will be sent to Boston tomorrow. Nine survivors remain in the area recovering strength.

Schooners Float Again After Shoreline Incidents

Gloucester reports three vessels hauled off after stranding. The Wilson and Willard from Boston to Dover was towed free by tug H. S. Nichols and will repair locally. Senator Frye near Parson's wharf sustained slight damage, and Rienzi off Niles's Beach was moved with little damage.

Hiram Lowell Rescues Narcissus Survivors at Sea

The Gloucester bound schooner Hiram Lowell arrived with twenty three rescued from the British schooner Narcissus which foundered at sea. Among the survivors are six crew members and seventeen passengers including Mrs Nelson Wagner Mrs Eliza Falls and James Wagner plus others named: Amos Wolf Benjamin Wolf Charles C C Conrad Uriah Manthorn James H Reynard Freeman Bagley Parker Colp William Parnell Edward Corkum.

Drowning Report From Hat Tie A Butler Wreck

One crew member drowned when the schooner Hat Tie A Butler ran ashore at Angelica Point Buzzard's Bay early Sunday. Captain Peter Mullen and a foremast hand reached shore amid raging surf. Thomas Atkins of Brooklyn NY died in the attempt. Mullen and the surviving mate were found nearly exhausted. The men have been quartered at Angelica Point.

Edgar Hanson Goes Ashore Near Nahant During Voyage

The three masted schooner Edgar Hanson coal laden bound for Portsmouth N H went ashore on Dread Ledge off Nahant this afternoon. It was sighted blowing horns for help in Nahant Bay and a volunteer life saving crew responded to the signals.

Scottish King Stranded Off Cape Race In Heavy Seas

A private telegram reports the Puritan line steamer Scottish King ran aground ten miles north north east of Cape Race Newfoundland at 5 30 yesterday morning. Captain James and a crew of about thirty five were landed safely. The ship lies full of water and will likely be a total loss with glass and general merchandise aboard.

Wreck Fairfax Struggles Against Rough Seas

Cargo salvage under way as tug C. M. Clark and steam lighter Westey remove 80 bales of cotton before nightfall. Old mariners fear the vessel may ride out the storm while cargo salvageable items remain. A Merchant Miners steamer will transfer recovered cotton to Providence. Captain Hadaway of the Wilson liner Ohio thanks an extraordinary high tide for freeing the ship from Spectacle Island after two failed attempts. Vessel Hazard Near Chesapeake Bay Ends in Split

Sunday forenoon the hawser tying the leading parge Oregon to the Soule parted at the entrance of Chesapeake Bay. Captain Smith got the Oregon crew aboard the Soule to safety but could not approach the Soule. The Soule cast off and was seen breaking in halves as the Oregon disappeared from view. Fate of the Soule and her crew remains unknown.

Gloucester Schooner Ir. R. Walker Reported Missing

Coast guards at Race Point report wreckage marked Ir. R. Walker from Gloucester. The schooner, 71.50 tons, built in 1881 at Bissex, commanded by Captain Frank Miller with a crew of fourteen, was last seen on Fippennies bank Saturday by the Ramona from Gloucester. Owned by Edwin C. McIntyre.

The Gate City of the Savannah line, feared lost in a storm, is confirmed safe and continuing to Savannah after being spoken off Montauk Point. It reported a storm near Chatham with anchors set and deck debris washing ashore Provincetown, sparking wreck rumors.

Chester W. Glark Bead Clark Dies at 83 in West Somerville

Chester N. Clark died yesterday at his home 20 Day street West Somerville aged 83. Born Foxboro July 3 1815 he served 35 years at the Massachusetts Reformatory East Cambridge as brush department agent. He was the oldest Odd Fellow in Massachusetts a long time member of New England Lodge 4 and New England Encampment 34. Funeral Friday from his home will be private.

Boston Socialite Thief Arrested in Series of Boarding House Thefts

Miss Mabel Walker a 17 year old alleged thief linked to six Back Bay boarding houses. She posed as a Conservatory of Music student and rented rooms then stole valuables including silver items, a gold watch, money and a check. Police followed her from Boston to New York and Philadelphia before her capture in Back Bay. she faces examination with likely more charges pending.

Factory Shutdown Sparks Crowd in Marlboro

At the Middlesex factory shutdown in Marlboro on November 30 a large crowd gathered with two policemen present. Six workers marched east on Main Street while hundreds followed. Peter Cardo, angered by insults he suffered, tried to address the crowd and fired a revolver but caused no injuries and the disturbances ended without further incident.

Bold Bandits Rob Three Laundries in Haverhill

A trio of unknown youths attempted three robberies in Haverhill at about 6 pm, targeting Chinese laundries on Washington avenue and Sargent square. At Ching Lee’s shop a confrontation left the owner injured but no money taken. Wong Way’s laundry yielded $60 from the customer and cash from the drawer before the suspects fled.

Charitable Scots' Annual Hosts St Andrew Festival
