Dr F DeCastro of Newark Kills Himself in Despair

Newark New Jersey November 30 Dr F DeCastro a 50 year old Italian born baron and interpreter in Washington under Garfields administration shot himself in the head. He left a letter claiming world travel and happiness then said the republican ship was going down and he would go with it. He willed his body to medical college for dissection with skeleton to a museum and skull inscribed in his memory.

Post office report shows revenue shortfall after rate cut

The postmaster general reports that the cost of postal service surpassed revenue by 5.2 million dollars for the year, with expenditures at 46.4 million and revenues at 21.7 million. Balloon Eclipse Makes Trial Flight Bursts Near Racoon Straits

The California balloon Eclipse, billed as the largest built in the state, rose for a test ascent near San Francisco but descended into Racoon Straits ten miles away. Occupants and the balloon were rescued by Angel Island boats. The owner plans to take the craft to the New Orleans world's fair.

In Dighton on November 26, a jubilee formed around a presidential election wager. William C. Rose wheeled Henry N. Lincoln in a wheelbarrow from Rose farm to Taunton Green four miles, amid banners, flags, a marching AOH delegation, a Mechanics band, and cheering crowds. Rose won. both men celebrated at the City hotel with a feast.

Jubilant Democratic Celebration in Atlanta Parade

A great democratic celebration in Atlanta Georgia featured a torchlight parade for about 50 000 cheering attendees with cannons firing and music filling the air Governor McDaniel Senators prong Colquette and Hon J Randall took honored seats Randall delivered a speech pledging responsibility under the Georgia coat of arms motto freedom and law and a tariff reform outline followed by long distance walkers contests and other sports news from Philadelphia to New York and Boston with noted boxing racing and billiards events and local fundraisers and foreclosures.

Republicans held two aldermanic district conventions at city headquarters on Saturday. John E. Parker chaired the fourth district, Andrew B. Latimore was secretary. Freeman defeated Wellington seven to six, with a withdrawn motion for unanimity. Eleventh district chose H M Wilde as chairman and A M Hooper as secretary. Nelson S. Wakefield of ward 23 was unanimously nominated. People’s party in wards 13 14 and 15 weighed mayoral support for Hugh O’Brien and aldermanic nominees Fernald. A charter revision club, led by Charles A. Welch, seeks to organize city reform. Independent German groups back Mayor Martin. alliances will form after aldermen nominations.

Citizens in Waltham favored F. M. Stone as the first mayor but he declined having his name used. B. B. Johnson and I. York Maine Cider Output Acknowledged Amid Local News

A Maine town reports 42000 gallons of cider produced this year while a string of local items recount arrests and incidents.
