Colchester Murderer Gershom Marx Solves Farm as Cemetery

Colchester Connecticut August 30 There is strong belief that the farm of Gershom Marx now jailed on a murder charge is a cemetery of slain men. State Attorney Lucas and Sheriff Wickwire direct a night search with lanterns and gangs digging trenches to uncover bodies. They hope to find Paul Pavel and two additional victims including an 18 year old boy and a Hebrew pedlar. Authorities suspect Marx murdered his workers and the missing boy and pedlar after debt disputes and used poison whiskey, a scythe, and dismemberment to hide the crimes. A hidden cellar and trap door reveal earth and rubbish beneath. Marx allegedly drugged victims and buried them with ghastly forehead wounds.
