Massachusetts Democrats Convene in Boston for State Nominees

The State Convention of the Democrats and Conservatives of Massachusetts will meet at Faneorn Hal Boston on the second day of September at eleven A M for nomination of Governor Lieutenant Governor and other state officers and presidential electors Delegates equal one per town city plus one for every seventy five votes for the Democratic candidate in the last election Boston August 7 1868 Per order of the Dem State Committee Josian G Ansorr Chairman The message also includes political commentary about the party and national affairs with references to reconstruction and taxation trends following the Civil War

The Maine Journal critiques Admiral Semmes and blames Radical legislation for shipping losses. A Portland banner proclaims ships owned in 1860 were forty one, in 1868 only one, demanding accountability for Reconstruction policies.
