A Dorchester crowd of 4000 at Franklin Park’s Playstead halted a Municipal Band performance after a group of youths began throwing tomatoes and fruit. Police failed to stop the rioters, forcing conductor Mollenhauer to end the program midpiece while musicians and instruments suffered. A local spectator called the incident a disgrace to Boston.
H M Whitmney announced in Sydney that he will become a citizen there. He praised Sydney iron works and predicted Dominion Iron and Steel Company would build iron ships. Foundations of the works to be completed this winter with buildings to follow next year.
