Louisville, Aug 29. The Union Gas Company of Louisville reports a magnificent natural gas flow 25 miles from Louisville along the Ohio River on the Indiana side. Geologist Major William J. Davis estimates the flow at least 200 cubic feet per second, about 17 million cubic feet per day.

Two Fort Wayne railroad freight trains collided in Lima Ohio on Sunday night. The wreck destroyed engines on twenty five cars but caused no injuries. Also Judge Sage of Cincinnati denied a bid to reduce bail for Benjamin Hopkins former assistant cashier at the Fidelity National Bank.
Fire calls reported yesterday include a bedding blaze at William H. Parker’s house 9 Winchester street causing $25 damage. A kettle of fat fire at Littlefield’s wharf. slight clothing store fire at Solomon Hamburg’s 26 Cambridge street from a gas jet. A three story building at 12 Stillman street owned by Mrs. Harkins and occupied by Mrs. Finkelstein sustained $50 damage.
August 29 reports from Detroit detail a morning blaze at the Anchor Manufacturing Company cooperage sprawling twenty acres along the Detroit River. Losses reach £800,000, risking 400 jobs as barrels were produced for Havemeyer’s Sons. Other fires include Pritchard & Kilee saw mill in Levanna earning $60,000 loss and W Seyk & Co flour mill in Erwanee burning, with $27,000 insured. Isle au Haute’s Tourist's Home hotel, a year old at a $7,000 cost, burned with $3,200 insurance.
In Curiaco a local paper reports a petition circulating to the Governor asking a pardon for ex-Commissioner Richard S. McCloughry. Signed mainly by Grand Army men, the petition contends his honorable war record and lack of evidence to justify conviction.
The steam boat What Cheer of the Continental line collided with the Shore company's steamer Philadelphia on the bay this morning. Passengers say the Philadelphia steamer tried to avoid impact. No serious damage reported though the Philadelphia captain filed a complaint.
William P. McFee of Lebanon New Hampshire a harness maker aged 56 hanged himself to an apple tree yesterday morning while in a melancholy mood.
