Halifax Telegraphist freed after illegal Boston arrest
John D. McDonald of Halifax was arrested Monday night in Boston at the Postal Telegraph Company offices for alleged embezzlement from the Canadian Pacific Railroad. Police released him as no Halifax warrant existed and the Boston arrest was unlawful. McDonald, a telegrapher, had recently left Halifax, North Carolina, for Boston the previous Tuesday. Two railroad detectives had pursued him. the arrest was made by a Division 2 patrolman.
