The article contends Stacy was murdered, detailing blows to the back of the head and ear with the heart also struck, aiming to determine if a murder occurred.
An elderly Burlington resident, 83, was shot in his dining room during an apparent burglary attempt. A small 22 caliber Young America revolver, found in Stacy's left hand, had four live cartridges after three discharged. Police consider it an amateur crime, with theories that the intruder fled or that the revolver was planted to mislead investigators.
The elderly Mr Stacy never owned a revolver and likely heard noises in the dining room before being shot from behind by an hidden burglar. A second shot to the heart followed as the intruder fled leftward toward the window. Silverware and a necktie lay near the table while Mrs Stacy lay upstairs in bath with nurse Electa Roberts and niece Adeline Lefavour nearby.
