Collision between City of Jacksonville and unknown schooner near Nahant

The City of Jacksonville traveling from Nahant to Boston collided with an unidentified sailing vessel off Deer Island Light around 10:30 pm. The bow suffered heavy damage but no serious injuries occurred as passengers feared sinking. the bow deck was crowded and chaos followed before both vessels slid past each other and the schooner departed.
