UTisca Iowa Aug 26 William Roberts son of a well known Oxford farmer shot Jennie Tracy after she refused to continue their courtship. The girl may die. Roberts jailed but stabbed himself with a penknife to feign insanity. He inflicted only minor wounds. Parents opposed the match.

The dory Bibber under Captain Traynor from New York arrived at St Pierre, Mig August 26, rescued by a French schooner after being struck by a steamer. Traynor is unhurt and will repair his craft. The schooner also sighted a flesh colored dory with two dead men aboard.
Four thousand veterans and about three thousand friends attended the opening exercises at the driving park for the soldiers and sailors reunion of the northwest. Governor Hamilton of Illinois delivered the welcome, followed by General Logan who spoke to the crowd.

Estate may have 200,000 in real estate but insufficient to cover liabilities as Judge Burrows remains in town.

Capt Bedford Pim invites him to a Montreal meeting Sept 1. Mrs Greely and he depart for Montreal Wednesday and return about Sept 3. Pim, who rescued McClines at Mersey bay in 1854, is an Arctic explorer.
City council inspected a bronze statue funded by Howe Sewing Machine Co. Eight feet high and praised as the citys finest art. Crafted by a Philadelphia firm and valued at 25000 dollars for Seaside Park display.
George Nichols attempted an outrage on Ethel Abbott aged six in Abbott's barn on Birch street in DeRRY Deport New Hampshire. The mother intervened and Nichols and accomplices are being sought as they scour the country.
In St Paul Minnesota between Saturday night and Monday morning the People's bank vault was robbed of ten thousand dollars. The thief used the known combination and Edward Mason a 16 year old bank clerk is missing and suspected of the crime.
