Cambridge Taxes Jump to Record High

Cambridge assessors raised the tax rate to 18.30 dollars per thousand, the highest in city history. The increase stems from metropolitan park assessments, a new armory, smallpox epidemic costs, and overall city expenses rising by 80,000 dollars with a 60,000 dollar council overlay, while valuation growth lags behind the average.
