In Webster on August 21 George W. Nichols aged 43 killed his estranged wife and then turned the gun on himself after murdering their four week old infant. Nichols had deserted his family prior to the killings and left the nameless infant. All three victims died instantly in a sordid domestic triangle ending in suicide.
In Dublin nearly all Dail Eireann Cabinet members met to finalize plans for tomorrow's secret Parliament session. Harry J. Boland, De Valera’s representative in the United States, arrived and called on De Valera at the Mansion House this afternoon.

A 80 gallon water boiler attached to a gas heater exploded and blew through the ceiling and roof of 47 Ridgewood Street Dorchester. Chesten Bowles of Rockland, 25, lies unconscious from a head wound after a shooting by Special Officer William Henrick during a tire theft at a Quincy garage near the corner. Bowles and two accomplices were stealing automobile tires when confronted and fired upon in the early morning darkness.

Harvard University and the Rockefeller Foundation announced in New York the establishment of a School of Public Health at Harvard. An initial gift of 1,785,000 dollars from the foundation will aid the new school.
