Roumania plans to engage in the war against the Teutons with 500,000 troops prepared and a pathway opened to assist Russia. The report signals a major shift in the regional conflict and potential for wider Allied action.
Italian troops began disembarking at Saloniki yesterday, marching to camp with allied bands and cheering crowds as they passed through the city. Unofficial reports from London say Roumania plans to enter the war on the side of the Allies, with a declaration against the Teutonic powers ready to issue. Berlin and Amsterdam dispatches reflect German hopeful acceptance of Roumanian defection, noting calm official responses.
The entry of Roumania into World War I with the Entente would threaten the Central powers by enabling attacks on Bulgaria from the north and allowing Russian forces to move through Roumanian territory. Roumania reportedly has 500 000 to 800 000 troops mobilized and may gain Bessarabia in exchange for cooperation. Berlin fears an ultimatum to Roumania.

Christato Buckusti a 42 year old paver of 9 Bates Street Revere was taken to City Hospital after a paving block fell and crushed his right foot while working at Lincoln and Beach streets yesterday.
The City Hospital mourns 12 year old Marion Graves of 289 Havre Street East Boston after her death. Dr Charles J C Gillon a hospital staff member donated a quart of his own blood in an attempt to save her.
Marion Graves, youngest of four, fell ill with tonsil and adenoid trouble. A blood transfusion from Dr. Gillon, 26, aided by Dr. Leeder and Dr. Settle, failed to save her after a reaction. Funeral at Sacred Heart Church East Boston.
Relatives of Frank P. Mastuillo search for him at 4 Noyes Place North End to inform him of the death of his 9 year old sister Frances yesterday afternoon. Frances died at the Consumptive Hospital in Mattapan after more than two months illness. Mastuillo left a wife and four children to take a job with a western concern and had not been heard from nearly two months.
President asks railroad leaders to accept his plan, appealing to patriotism as a vote to prevent a strike. The appeal follows a rejection by the court or authority, amid rising tensions over labor actions and national service.
President Wilson urged railroad executives to accept his plan to avert a nationwide strike and keep rail service for national defense. A sub-committee was formed to study the proposal and submit recommendations to the Washington group tomorrow.
