Lipton reports no disappointment in his boat or its efforts as wind conditions were highly variable, giving neither vessel a fair chance, especially his smaller sail area. He promises to try again when a good breeze arrives.
A squall capsized the schooner Redskin with nine aboard in Hull Gut. The Mayflower and Hull life savers rescued all nine as the vessel drifted for over an hour. A second small yacht capsized nearby. two occupants were seen clinging to their craft and later lost.
Fair conditions for Boston and vicinity Friday and Saturday with light northerly winds. Unsettled weather follows, with a tendency toward warmer temperatures and variable winds returning.
The report lists hourly temperatures for yesterday on Thompson Street Washington, with morning and evening readings and an average temperature of 70. The data shows values like 58 at 8 am and 69 at 8 pm, with several time slots of 6 am 68 and 6 pm 68. Averages compare to last year’s 70.

Premier and foreign minister M. Rali informs powers of Greek consuls reports from Macedonia. Greek church schools and 322 Greek-owned houses at Ketcheri were blown up and burned. Several Greek subjects killed.
The congress of the Chambers of Commerce of the British empire adopted a resolution urging His Majesty's government to appoint a commission with empire and colonial representatives. The panel would craft a commercial policy within the British empire aimed at mutual benefit and stronger trade, introduced by Lords Strathcona and Brassey.
Henry W. Smith aged 28 of New London Connecticut was killed today when a freight train jolted him off the tracks. He left a family.
Several hundred children enjoyed a neighborhood picnic at Amory Grove in Roxbury hosted by Rev. Simon P. W. Drew. The afternoon featured recreative games and refreshments at the booths.
In Salem on August 20 six suspects were booked: Frank Foster and Richard Weston of Boston. Frank Parkinson of Lynn. Mathew White of Lynn. Joseph Berkowitz of Lynn. and Joseph Sullivan of Boston. F A Sullivan accused Sullivan of pickpocketing. police recovered Sullivan’s purse on the suspect. Fr Johns Medicine promotes strength and health.
William Swart 24 of 269 Gold Street South Boston died after diving from a raft off Savin Hill Beach and being found wedged head between two logs. He reportedly suffered cramps and could not free himself, despite an hour of effort to revive him. The body was taken to City Hospital morgue.
J C Atwood of Malden and his wife clash over custody of their 4 year old daughter. Mrs Atwood, from Waterford, left her husband and returned with the child after he and a man said to be a lawyer took her earlier. The depot delivery allowed her to reclaim the girl. Courts may decide custody tomorrow.
Michael Coleman suffered four broken ribs after a whiskey binge near 54 Beach Street late last night. Police found him on the sidewalk and he was taken to City Hospital. He said he had been drinking heavily and collapsed while attempting to walk home after his tenth glass in an hour.
Police probe a probable murder as David Fitzgerald, an elderly man with little known background, was found unconscious at the foot of stairs at 22 Commercial Street and died two hours later at the Relief station from a fractured skull. Mrs Tenney of 242 Commercial Street cannot explain the injuries. Lieutenant Burnett assigns two officers to the case.
Roosevelt has extended the principle he used to reinstate Miller to all government departments. The policy bars union rules from overriding US law and supports equal employment regardless of union membership. The letters cite this stance and a coal commission finding on fair labor practices.
