A late night storm in St Paul Minnesota brought near hurricane force winds and two inches of rain between 2 and 5 am. Lightning lit the skies as streets flooded and tracks overflowed causing delays. Three horses were killed in Stillwater and homes and a store were damaged. Grantsburg Wisconsin also suffered a cloudburst with nine inches of rain washing away bridges culverts and a dam. Rail service and hay crops suffered extensive damage across affected towns.

Dr Otto Ritzman, a young Albany physician of 30, drowned Monday in Carrying Place Bay while fishing with partner Dr W H Murray and a guide named Frank Madison. The boat capsized after a heavy pull on the line. Murray remained with the craft, Ritzman disappeared with cramps, and his body was recovered near shore. He leaves a wife and two children and had recently bought a nearby drug store. his body was later moved to Albany.
