Death of Maharajah Duleep Singh’s mother in London

The mother of Maharajah Duleep Singh, once seen as a potent figure in India, has died in London. A Christian by choice, the princess maintained strict caste practices until death, avoiding meals when her Christian son shared the same space and using a separate Indian establishment for her meals. She was long noted for her moral reputation as a controversial figure and for the Kohinoor diamond dispute with the English.
