One Hundred Army Wagons Headed to Washington from Kingston
A correspondent notes 100 army wagons built in eighteen days by Albert Brown using seasoned stock with Edward Riddle as Boston agent. Also mentions Col Gardner’s wounds and the Union Twin Battery’s potential as a top short range weapon. Tourists report fine White Mountains weather and travel routes via Boston to Littleton. A sale of boots and shoes by S D Massey at 25 Pearl Street is announced for today at eleven.

Convention approves Kanawha as new West Virginia state
The Wheeling convention passes the ordinance to create a new state named Kanawha with Logan as part of the boundary. A vote of 50 to 28 approves the measure, allowing adjoining counties to join by majority vote. An October 24 election will decide statehood and a constitution will be formed. The First Virginia regiment is due back tomorrow amid planned celebrations.
