Funeral notices for Frederick A Leigh and George W Sumner appear in this city edition with pages referencing their services. The column also notes a terrible Old Colony accident near Quincy leaving seventeen dead and over fifty injured.
Quincy special reports seventeen dead and about fifty injured after the Old Wolong line wreck. The engine left the rails on a curve near President's Bridge, with three cars staying on track while the fourth collided into the engine, causing fatal escaping steam. A full list of victims and injuries is given, with many listed from Boston and surrounding Massachusetts towns. The cause is under investigation amid competing theories of rail spread under strain.
The Conveyancers Title Insurance advertises simple forms backed by cash resources nearly double those of rivals. It covers fraud and errors of fact or record, offers low rates, and does not assume state risks. It will buy or negotiate first class Boston and suburban mortgages and sell them with guaranteed titles. Listed officers include Frepenick C. Bowen and Janss K. Carnet among others.
Shipping notices list vessels and routes with ports of departure and arrival. Entries show ships such as Michigan Liverpool Boston Glasgow London and various legs, including Yokohama to San Francisco and New York to Rotterdam, with dates in August and origin ports including Glas gow and Antwerp.

William Fennell, a Boston carpenter, rode in the fourth car when the train left the tracks near Quincy. He described a sudden crash, the car’s impact with the locomotive, and the life-saving break that spared him and dozens of others as deadly steam filled the car and many were killed or injured.
Samuel A. Holbrook of Brockton recounts a wreck at 10:40 leading to four deaths and many severe scalds as passengers, including General Nat Wales, escaped or suffered injuries. He details steam filling cars, passengers trapped, and cries of victims amid the wrecked train.
Jacob Heilborn a leather merchant on High street survived a deadly train collision near Quincy describing a jolt and a turning car as steam filled windows. He witnessed an engineer killed and estimated several others burned or injured while workers cleared tracks via Braintree and East Milton.
John Harrington, a passenger in the sixth car, survived the wreck between Quincy and Wollaston where the engine jumped the track. He described the forward cars derailing, the fourth car being crushed, and many passengers killed or severely injured by crushing timbers and scalding steam.
Frederick H. Ripley principal of Bigelow Grammar School in South Boston was a passenger when a train derailed and plowed along. A tearing force ripped through the car as hot fetid steam filled the compartment and heively leaped from a broken window to reach the ground.
