Tour on the Wye from Monmouth to Chepstow

An 1850 travel note from Monmouth England describes a pleasant anticipatory march along the Wye from Chepstow through Wyndcliff and wooded scenery. It highlights tall grass, wood choppers, and the picturesque landscape as a reflective afterword to the journey.

Splendid French marble mantelpieces and other auction items

On Thursday Aug 22 at 10 o'clock offices offer twenty marble mantelpieces in red yellow blue black and variegated Scienna Egyptian Turkish finishes. Prices range 65 to 150. Exhibition two days before. Also paintings by J M Burbank including a 12 by 9 cartoon and several large religious and landscape works. Engravings about 50 by eminent masters. Furniture piano fortes and accessories to follow, including a rosewood piano forte at 11 o'clock and a second hand chaise.
