Eight Horses Die In $10,000 South Boston Fire At Wharf Barn
Fire heavily damaged the two story barn and workshops of the W. A. Murtfeldt Asphalt Paving Company at Bay State wharf foot of I street South Boston last evening. Eight horses perished and another was so badly burned it likely will be shot. Firefighters and volunteers fought the blaze but heat drove rescuers back. Wagons were saved along with hay copper zinc and tools. much of the rest is a total loss.
