Quiet at the fish pier as week winds down with modest business
The harbor saw reduced activity with only seven trips yesterday while earlier days boomed with big fish receipts. The Florida delivered 53 swordfish offered at 7 cents a pound, the Bernie & Bessie brought 48 swords at 74 1/2 cents, and groundfish totals reached 209,700 pounds including haddock, cod, hake, pollock, and cask. Captain Powers and other skippers reported solid catches and steady prices as vast coal barges and large passenger liner traffic added to the harbor's bustle.

Oxford Dog Runs Amuck in City and Is Shot
An apparently mad brindle and white dog half bull and half hound ran through Oxford, covering ten miles while attacking several dogs and killing one. Shot by Dog Officer George L. Fortin after a long chase, it bore fifteen bullet wounds. The head was sent to a Boston cattle chief for examination. Authorities advised keeping dogs bitten secure pending rabies determination. Dr. Charles W Lynn doubted rabies, citing nervous temperament and heat.
